When using Soracom Flux AI Actions to send instructions or questions to an AI model, requests are managed using Flux credits. For example, using the Amazon Bedrock Anthropic Claude 3 Haiku AI model consumes 10 Flux credit per request.

We have revised the number of credits consumed for the Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o) Flux AI action as follows:

AI Action Model Before -> After
Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o) 150 Credits -> 86 Credits

For more information, please refer to the following documentation:

Soracom Flux support for Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova now available

We are pleased to announce that Soracom Flux is now compatible with Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova.

When building a Flux application, you can specify an AI Action in order to send a request to an AI model for processing. With this update, you can now send requests to the Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova model.

Each Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova request will consume Flux credits according to the following types of request:

Model Consumed credits
Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Micro 2 Credits
Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Lite 3 Credits
Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Pro 30 Credits

Note that at this time, the Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Lite and Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Pro support text and image input; the Amazon Bedrock - Amazon Nova Micro only supports text input. Neither model supports video.

Saving data to Soracom Harvest Data for SoraCam compatible cameras now available

We have released two new Soracom Cloud Camera Services (SoraCam) APIs for saving data to Soracom Harvest Data. When using these APIs, the data saved to Harvest Data will be associated with a compatible camera device.

  • SoraCam:createSoraCamDeviceDataEntry API
  • SoraCam:updateSoraCamDeviceDataEntry API

For example, you can send an image captured by a SoraCam device to an AI service for image analysis and then save the results of the analysis, such as the number of people in the image or whether or not specific objects were detected, to Harvest Data.

This data will be associated with the SoraCam device, and can then be viewed through the Soracom User Console, as well as using the Harvest Data APIs below:

  • DataEntry:getDataEntries API
  • DataEntry:getDataEntry API.

Pricing

When using these new APIs to save data to Harvest Data, the following Soracom Harvest Data Service, Data Submit and Data Export fees will apply (prices below include consumption tax):

  • Service fees - A JPY 5.5 per day, per device fee applies for each SoraCam compatible camera device, regardless of the number of API calls made to save data.
  • Data Submit fees - A JPY 0.0044 per API call fee applies when the number API calls made for a particular SoraCam compatible camera device exceeds 2,000 calls per day.
  • Data Export fees - Data Export fees depend on whether the Harvest Data Extended Retention Option is enabled in your Soracom account:
    • If the Extended Retention Option is enabled, a JPY 550 per 1 GiB fee applies when the total amount of data exported from Harvest Data exceeds 3 GiB in a month. The amount of data exported also includes data viewed through the User Console.
    • If the Extended Retention Option is not enabled, no Data Export fees are incurred regardless of the total amount of data exported from Harvest Data.

Please note that if these APIs are used to associated data with a device other than a SoraCam compatible camera devices, Harvest Data fees will still apply according to the group of the corresponding device (such as an IoT SIM or other device) where the Soracom Harvest Data service is enabled.

Free Tier

A free tier for Harvest Data Service fees is also included with every Soracom account:

  • The first 31 device-days for the Harvest Data Service fee are free each month
  • The free tier is applied at the end of each month, and unused device-days are not carried over into subsequent months
  • If using Harvest Data with other non-SoraCam compatible camera devices, the free tier is shared among the other devices; a separate free tier for Soracom compatible camera devices is not available

For example, if data from 4 SoraCam compatible camera devices is saved to Soracom Harvest Data for 10 days, the Service fee will be calculated as 4 camera devices × 10 days = 40 device-days. After subtracting the 31 device-day free tier, the remaining 9 device-days will be billed.

For additional Harvest Data pricing and free tier details, please refer to the Pricing & Fee Schedule.

Improved SIM Actions menu

We have made several improvements to the SIM Actions menu interface in order to make it easier to use:

  • Related actions are now grouped together, making them easier to find.
  • When certain actions are not available, they are automatically hidden to reduce the size of the Actions menu.
  • Some menu item names have been improved to indicate their function more clearly.

We are excited to continue bringing additional interface improvements in the coming months.

New Soracom Beam response option for selected entry points

We have added a Platform Version option to the Soracom Beam TCP → HTTP/HTTPS and UDP → HTTP/HTTPS entry point configuration. By changing the Platform Version option, you can control the format of the Beam response returned to the device.

The available Platform Version options are 202411 and 201509. For more information on the differences between these Platform Versions, please refer to the following documentation:

  • TCP → HTTP/HTTPS Entry Point (Japanese)
  • UDP → HTTP/HTTPS Entry Point (Japanese)

If you have an existing Beam TCP → HTTP/HTTPS or UDP → HTTP/HTTPS entry point configuration, the Platform Version option will be set to 201509 automatically. This version keeps the existing response format behavior of Beam, and no additional action is required.
