Soracom Beam MQTT entry point feature for copying messages to Soracom Harvest Data now available

We are pleased to release a new feature for the Soracom Beam MQTT entry point which allows messages sent to an MQTT broker to be copied and saved to Soracom Harvest Data at the same time.

Previously, MQTT messages sent from a device to Soracom Beam could only be forwarded to an MQTT broker, and could not be saved in Soracom Harvest Data. With this new feature, MQTT messages can also be saved to Soracom Harvest Data, enabling more efficient data visualization and analysis.

Usage

To enable this feature:

  • From the Soracom User Console: Edit your Soracom Beam MQTT entry point settings and enable the "Copy to Soracom Harvest Data" option.
  • Using the Soracom API or CLI: Use the Group:putConfigurationParameters API or the soracom groups put-config command to set the SoracomBeam namespace fork.SoracomHarvest option to true.

You will also need to enable Soracom Harvest Data for the corresponding group.

Messages will be saved to Soracom Harvest Data in JSON format, with attributes mqttTopic containing the topic name and mqttPayload containing the message content.

Notes

  • Before using this feature, verify the format and configuration of the data sent from your device.
  • Temporary system errors may cause message copying to fail, but this does not affect message delivery to the MQTT broker.

For more details, please refer to the Soracom Beam documentation.

If you have any questions, please contact Soracom Support.

Soracom Flux's Bounding Box Action now supports polygons

Soracom Flux's Bounding Box Action (Japanese) now supports polygonal borders. Previously, only rectangular borders were available, but this update allows flexible boundaries to be added to images at specified URLs.

The Bounding Box Action sets a border to indicate boundaries on images from specified URLs. By setting this border, you can explicitly indicate the target area within the image for subsequent actions that use it. You can choose either a rectangular or polygonal border shape.

For example, you can specify a complex region and instruct an AI Action to "detect objects inside the red border," allowing analysis of a specific area within the image.

The Bounding Box Action is available on the Standard Plan and Enterprise Plan.

If you have any questions, please contact Soracom Support.

Soracom VPG Pricing Revision Cancelled

We would like to inform customers that the previously announced Virtual Private Gateway (VPG) pricing revision has been cancelled.

As announced, pricing for VPG and related services was scheduled to be revised from hourly to monthly billing, effective February 1, 2026. Based on valuable feedback, we have decided to indefinitely postpone this change. We will continue to review pricing with customer needs in mind, and will share any updates in future announcements.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused and greatly appreciate your understanding and patience.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your sales representative or contact us via our webform.

The retention period for data generated by the Soracom Flux app has been extended for the Standard and Enterprise plans

The retention period for data generated by the Soracom Flux app has been changed. The retention period will now be applied according to your plan.

Changes to the Retention Period

Previously, the retention period for data generated by the Soracom Flux app (such as execution history, messages, and action execution results) was 7 days regardless of the plan. With this change, the retention period will now be set differently for each plan as follows:

  • Developer Plan: 7 days
  • Standard Plan: 40 days
  • Enterprise Plan: Please inquire about retention periods

Customers on the Standard Plan and Enterprise Plan can now store data for a longer period than before, enabling more flexible data management.

Important Notes

Data exceeding the retention period will be automatically deleted.

For details, please refer to the Soracom Flux documentation (Japanese).

If you have any questions, please contact Soracom Support.

[Japan only] Pricing Calculator now supports Global coverage

The Soracom Pricing Calculator now supports creating estimates for Global coverage. Previously, estimates were limited to Japan coverage.

Estimates for Global coverage are displayed in USD. Tax handling depends on the service.

The calculator does not provide a feature to select a destination country or zone to automatically calculate usage charges. Use the estimate as a reference for Soracom services and IoT SIM offerings available in Japan.

For more details on the Pricing Calculator, please refer to the Create an Estimate (Japanese) documentation.

If you have any questions, please contact Soracom Support.

Please note that this service is currently only available for customers located in Japan.

Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite added to Soracom Flux AI actions

Soracom Flux AI actions now let you select the Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite model.

Requests to AI models available in AI actions are managed with Flux credits. Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite consumes 4 credits per request. AI models that allow you to use your own license (API key) do not consume credits.

The credit consumption per request for Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite is as follows:

Model Consumed credits
Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite 4 Credits

Google Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite supports video input. When video is specified as input to the AI model, additional credits for video usage are also consumed. For details on credit consumption, see Actions and consumed credits (Japanese).
