Soracom Query now officially available

We are excited to announce the official release of Soracom Query, a fully-featured IoT data analytics platform for securely collecting, storing, and analyzing IoT data. After an initial limited release in 2023, Query is now available to all customers and brings powerful new features for performing large-scale IoT data analysis, creating real-time visualizations, and even building complex queries using natural language.

Query Assistant AI

This release introduces Query Assistant AI, a built-in tool that empowers users to generate complex data analysis by simply describing the desired output in natural language. Users can write queries such as:

  • "Show me a list of devices with the highest data usage from the past week"
  • "Find anomalies in the data sent by my devices"

Query Assistant AI automatically converts these into SQL for reliable data analysis, allowing users to easily explore and gain valuable insights into their IoT application without needing to be familiar with database structures.

Store, Visualize, and Connect Your Data

Query works seamlessly with other Soracom services, such as Harvest for securely storing data on platform, and Lagoon for building powerful dashboards and visualizations from Query data analysis results, eliminating the need to set up, transfer, and process data using external cloud services.

For power users, Query also supports connecting its data analysis features directly to external BI tools for full control of deeper analysis.

Plans to Fit Every Use Cases

Query is available in three plans:

  • Trial Plan: An introductory plan that allows you to test all of Query's features for 2 months
  • Business Plan: A standard monthly subscription suitable for most deployments
  • Enterprise Plan: An advanced plan that adds cross-account data analysis, database access, and custom report delivery

To learn more about Soracom Query and get started, visit the Soracom Query documentation.

New Category feature for Harvest Data now available

We are pleased to release a new feature that allows you to assign category names to IoT device data stored in Soracom Harvest Data!

With this feature, you can set a category name for each IoT SIM group where Harvest Data is enabled. In turn, when IoT SIM devices in the group send data, that data is stored with the category name, allowing you to group data across multiple devices instead of managing each device's data separately. This makes it easier to visualize trends and run analysis across similar types of data.

These categories also work with Soracom Query, allowing you to perform more sophisticated IoT data analysis grouped or filtered by category, calculate averages, maximums, and minimums across multiple devices, and more.

For more information on configuring Harvest Data categories and Query usage, refer to the Harvest Data and Query documentation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Soracom Support.

Batch Processing feature for bulk updating SIMs now available

We are excited to announce a new batch processing feature to the Soracom User Console, making it easy to repeat actions for large numbers of SIMs, such as activation and tag management.

Previously, if you needed to update more than 100 SIMs, the most direct method was to write your own Python, NodeJS, shell, or other script using the Soracom API. While powerful, scripting takes time and effort to set up.

Now with the batch processing feature, you can simply upload a CSV file containing the SIMs and parameters you want to update, and perform bulk updates right from the User Console.

Key Features

  • Supports large updates: Process up to 10,000 SIMs at once to save time on repetitive tasks.
  • No code required: Prepare a CSV using a spreadsheet editor like Excel and upload it to the User Console.
  • Flexible CSV handling: Select which columns to use directly in the User Console, reducing the need to manually modify CSV files.

For detailed instructions, refer to the Batch Processing documentation.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to share them with us here. We look forward to enhancing the capabilities of this new feature.
