Traffic Filtering for VPG now available

We are pleased to announce Traffic Filtering, a new feature for Virtual Private Gateway (VPG). Traffic Filtering is a cloud-based firewall. It lets you restrict the destinations that IoT SIMs and Soracom Arc devices using a VPG can access directly, based on IP address, FQDN, port, and protocol.

Key Features

You can combine two types of rules per VPG to allow (allow) or deny (deny) traffic.

  • IP filtering: Set rules by destination IP address (CIDR), protocol (TCP / UDP / ICMP), and port (or port range).
  • Domain (FQDN) filtering: Set rules by destination domain name. Wildcards such as *.example.com are supported.

Availability

Traffic Filtering is available on VPG Type-F, Type-F2, and Type-G. A separate request is required to use it. If you would like to use Traffic Filtering, please contact Soracom Support.

For details, see Traffic Filtering.
